Why does my check engine light and oil light come on before the oil change?
When you get an oil change, it is important to reset the check engine light and oil life monitor in your car. If you don't do this, the light will come on again, and the oil life monitor will think that the oil needs to be changed sooner than it actually does. The check engine light comes on when the engine computer detects a problem with the engine or emission control system. The oil life monitor keeps track of how long the oil has been in the engine and how many miles have been driven since the last oil change. When either of these lights comes on, it means that there is something wrong with your car, and you should take it to a mechanic to have it checked out.
